Bitumen Products
Petrochemical Products – Bitumen

Bitumen for Road Construction
Over 90% of global bitumen production is used in road paving. The quality of bitumen determines the durability and strength of asphalt.

Bitumen in Waterproofing
Bitumen is the most reliable natural waterproofing material. It is widely used in roofs, concrete structures, and tunnels to prevent water penetration.

Bitumen for Industrial Uses
Bitumen is applied in chemical industries, roofing sheets, carbon electrodes, and pipeline coatings, making it a vital material in many sectors.

What is Bitumen Used For?
Bitumen, also known as asphalt, is one of the most essential petrochemical products in modern industries. Around 90% of all produced bitumen is used in road construction and asphalt production, while the remaining 10% is used for waterproofing and insulation purposes.
At Mazdaco Trading Company, we specialize in sourcing and supplying the highest quality bitumen tailored to international standards. Our products are trusted by global partners for their consistency, durability, and competitive pricing.
Types of Bitumen
1. Natural Bitumen
Natural bitumen is found in oil sands, under hills, and in natural reservoirs. It is highly pure, stable, and soluble in organic solvents. With a softening point ranging from 130°C to 250°C, natural bitumen is an excellent waterproofing agent and is widely used in civil engineering and large-scale road projects.
2. Refined Bitumen
Refined bitumen is derived from crude oil distillation residues. These petroleum-based bitumens can vary in hardness and viscosity depending on the crude source and refining process. Refined bitumen is the backbone of the asphalt paving industry and must be carefully produced to ensure quality and durability.
3. Coal-Tar Bitumen
Although similar in appearance to petroleum-based bitumen, coal-tar bitumen is obtained from coal. Its key applications include:
- Road surfacing (Road Tar)
- Briquette binding
- Graphite electrode production
- Pipe coatings and enamels

Applications of Bitumen
Bitumen is a versatile material with a wide range of industrial uses, including:
- Road surfacing & asphalt paving
- Waterproofing and insulation
- Soil stabilization
- Surface treatments (seal coats, tack coats, slurry seals)
- Industrial protective coatings
Whether you need bitumen for road construction, waterproofing, or industrial applications, Mazdaco ensures safe, timely, and customized delivery solutions.
Technical Specifications of Bitumen
- Penetration Grade – Measures hardness of bitumen (softer or harder).
- Viscosity – Flow resistance that changes with temperature.
- Flash Point – The temperature at which vapors ignite; safety-critical in handling.
- Weight Loss – Measured during heating; indicates stability at high temperatures.
- Purity Level – Determined by solubility in solvents such as carbon disulfide.
- Softening Point – Temperature at which bitumen turns from solid to semi-liquid.
Mazdaco carefully selects and tests all shipments to meet international requirements.
